Redlands Horticultural and Improvement Society
 
Founded in 1889, Redlands Horticultural and Improvement Society continues to work to increase and enhance the horticultural beauty and attractiveness of the greater Redlands area.  The Society; a nonprofit 501C3  corporation; pursues a number of Projects through the year that reflect the pride and interest of the Society.
 
The highlight of each year is the Annual Award-Winning FLOWER SHOW - an event has been held each year since 1913. Now, in conjunction with this premier Event, the Society also offers its Annual GARDEN TOUR AND UNCOMMON PLANT SALE.
 
The Society invites the Public to their Educational programs and meetings which include:
 
SOCIETY GENERAL MEETINGS -  each month September to June on the 3rd Thursday of the month at 7:00 pm at the Church of the Nazarene located at 1307 E. Citrus in Redlands at 7:00 pm. Programs include horticultural  presentations  as well as updates on special projects, events and field trips, a questions and answer session and - of course - refreshments.  
 
RHIS FLORAL DESIGN GROUP MEETINGS -  September through June in the  Lodge at Plymouth Village, 945 Salem Drive, Redlands.   Programs feature presentations and demonstrations by gifted Floral Designers, educational and creative workshops, tips on preparing for Flower Shows and much more for those who enjoy and want to explore the “Art” of Floral Design.  This GROUP also presents design programs and participates (by invitation) in floral displays at community events, senior facilities, churches and hospitals.
 
RHIS PLANT PROPAGATION PROGRAMS  - year round on Wednesday mornings at the RHIS Plant Yard in Prospect Park.  For almost a decade, these meetings have provided an opportunity to learn firsthand about propagation techniques , offers specials growing areas and develops special plants for the Society Plant Sales.

The DEAN FUND
For more than a decade, RHIS has worked with schools, both public and private, in the greater Redlands  area to introduce the many facets of horticulture and enhance schools garden/horticultural projects.  RHIS offers both financial assistance and member expertise.   Countless hours have been devoted to this Program and more than 20 school have bIrd and butterfly gardens, vegetable and flower gardens,native plant and water gardens plus these schools now include garden-based, hands-on projects in their overall programs.
